Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Add the molasses and water, and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half, wrap each half in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly darker. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
