Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Emmental cheese
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, salt, and sugar to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch the dough down and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle and sprinkle the shredded cheese and chopped onion evenly over the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly, tuck the ends under, and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
