Swabian Cucumber Salad (Schwäbischer Gurkensalat)

Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sliced cucumbers and red onion.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the white vinegar and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour the vinegar mixture over the cucumbers and onions, and toss to coat. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. After 10 minutes, drain any excess liquid from the cucumbers.
  5. Stir in the sour cream and chopped dill until everything is well combined.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
