Svensk Mandeltårta, or Swedish Almond Cake, is a classic dessert in Swedish cuisine. This rich and moist cake is flavored with almond and topped with a layer of toasted almonds, making it a delightful treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the almond flour, sugar, melted butter, eggs, almond extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Sprinkle the sliced almonds evenly over the top of the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice and serve the Svensk Mandeltårta with a cup of coffee or tea.
