Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and melted butter until warm.
  3. Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and 1/2 cup flour, beat until smooth.
  5. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  6. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  7. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Roll the dough into a 12x7-inch rectangle.
  9. Spread softened butter over dough.
  10. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over dough.
  11. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting from a long side.
  12. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet.
  13. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  14. Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  15. Cool on a wire rack.
