Swedish Glogg (Svensk Glögg)
Svensk Glögg, or Swedish Glogg, is a traditional Scandinavian mulled wine that is perfect for warming up during the winter months. This aromatic and flavorful beverage is a staple at Christmas markets and holiday gatherings throughout Sweden.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of red wine
- 1 cup of brandy
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 10 whole cloves
- 10 cardamom pods
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1/2 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup of blanched almonds
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the red wine, brandy, sugar, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and orange slices.
- Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour. Do not let it boil.
- After 1 hour, remove the pot from the heat and strain the mixture to remove the spices and orange slices.
- Stir in the raisins and blanched almonds.
- Serve the Swedish Glogg hot in mugs or heatproof glasses.
