Sweet and Sour Cherry Compote (Vişne Kompostosu)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the pitted cherries, sugar, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cherries are soft and the liquid has thickened slightly.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and let the compote cool to room temperature.
