Sweet and Sour Mango Chutney (Aam-er Chutney)
Aam-er Chutney, also known as Sweet and Sour Mango Chutney, is a popular condiment in Bangladeshi cuisine. This chutney is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors, making it a delightful accompaniment to various dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the diced mangoes, sugar, water, and vinegar.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mangoes are soft and the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the salt, red chili flakes, roasted cumin powder, and ground ginger. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the chutney cool to room temperature.
- Transfer the chutney to a sterilized jar and refrigerate until ready to serve.
