Sweet And Sour Mango Curry

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  2. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add tamarind pulp and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add the cubed mangoes and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mangoes are soft and the curry thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
