Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
- 1/4 cup sweet and sour sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch to make the sauce. Set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and pineapple chunks to the pan. Stir-fry until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the tofu to the pan and pour the sweet and sour sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Stir gently to coat everything in the sauce.
- Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Tiansuan Dòufu Chǎo hot over steamed rice.
