Sweet Bara (मिठो बारा)
मिठो बारा (Sweet Bara) is a traditional Newari Cuisine dish that is popular during festivals and special occasions. It is a sweet and savory lentil pancake that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Ingredients
- 2 cups black lentils (maas ko daal), soaked overnight
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Drain the soaked lentils and grind them into a smooth batter.
- Transfer the batter into a bowl and add chopped onions, green chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Spoon the batter into the hot oil to form small pancakes.
- Fry until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with yogurt or achar (pickle).
