Ingredients
- 1 cup farmer's cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
- Sour cream and jam for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the farmer's cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the cheese mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat disk with a hole in the center.
- Heat the oil in a pan and fry the pastries until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the pastries from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the papanași with a dollop of sour cream and a spoonful of jam on top.
