Sweet Chili Tofu (甜辣豆腐)
甜辣豆腐 (Sweet Chili Tofu) is a popular American Chinese dish that combines the sweetness of the sauce with the heat of chili, creating a flavorful and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
- Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the tofu until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the tofu to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
