Ingredients
- 1 cup chana dal (split yellow lentils)
- 1 cup jaggery, grated
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Water, as needed
- Ghee or oil, for cooking
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Wash the chana dal and pressure cook with 2 cups of water until soft. Drain any excess water and mash the dal.
- Heat a pan and add the mashed dal and jaggery. Cook on low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, turmeric powder, and a pinch of salt. Add water gradually to make a soft dough. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
- Take a dough ball, flatten it, and place a spoonful of the lentil-jaggery filling in the center. Bring the edges of the dough together to encase the filling and flatten gently.
- Heat a griddle or pan and cook the stuffed flatbread with ghee or oil until golden brown on both sides.
- Repeat the process for the remaining dough and filling.
