Sweet Milk Dumplings (bhojpuri Kheer Mohan)
Sweet Milk Dumplings, also known as Bhojpuri Kheer Mohan, is a traditional dessert from the Bhojpuri Cuisine. These delectable dumplings are made with milk, sugar, and cardamom, and are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- 1 liter whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
Instructions
- In a large heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Once the milk comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the milk reduces to about half its original quantity.
- While the milk is simmering, prepare the dumplings. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a little water to form a smooth dough. Divide the dough into small balls and set aside.
- Once the milk has reduced, add the sugar and cardamom powder, and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- In a separate pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the flour dumplings and fry until they are golden brown.
- Transfer the fried dumplings to the milk mixture and let them simmer for another 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Remove from heat and let the sweet milk dumplings cool for a few minutes before serving.
