Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a long stick.
  7. Place the pastry sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let the pastry sticks cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
