Sweet Pumpkin Fritters (Kabak Mücveri)
Kabak Mücveri, also known as Sweet Pumpkin Fritters, is a popular dish in Crimean Tatar cuisine. These fritters are made with grated pumpkin, flour, and a mix of herbs and spices, resulting in a delicious and crispy snack or side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups grated pumpkin
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the grated pumpkin, flour, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, salt, black pepper, and cumin until well combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Scoop spoonfuls of the pumpkin mixture and carefully drop them into the hot oil, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon.
- Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the Kabak Mücveri hot, with a side of yogurt or a squeeze of lemon juice.
