Sweet Rice Dumplings (ela Ada)
Sweet Rice Dumplings (Ela Ada) is a traditional Kerala delicacy made with rice flour, jaggery, coconut, and banana. These sweet and aromatic dumplings are steamed in banana leaves, imparting a unique flavor to the dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup grated jaggery
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- Pinch of salt
- 10 banana leaves, cut into squares
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix rice flour, jaggery, grated coconut, mashed bananas, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt to form a smooth dough.
- Take a banana leaf square and place a portion of the dough in the center. Flatten the dough and fold the banana leaf to form a packet. Repeat for the remaining dough.
- Steam the dumplings in a steamer for 15 minutes until cooked through.
- Once done, remove the dumplings from the steamer and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
