मिठो योमरी (Sweet Yomari) is a traditional Newari dessert that is typically made during the festival of Yomari Punhi. It is a sweet steamed dumpling filled with a mixture of jaggery and sesame seeds. Ingredients
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup jaggery
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/2 cup water
- Banana leaves for wrapping
Instructions
- In a pan, dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown. Let them cool and then grind them coarsely.
- In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with water to make a thick syrup. Add the ground sesame seeds and ghee to the syrup and mix well. Let the filling cool.
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour with warm water to form a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them into small discs. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each disc and seal the edges to form a dumpling.
- Wrap the dumplings in banana leaves and steam them for 15-20 minutes.
- Once cooked, unwrap the banana leaves and serve the sweet yomaris hot.
