Sweet Yomari (मिठो योमरी)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Banana leaves for wrapping

Instructions

  1. In a pan, dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn golden brown. Let them cool and then grind them coarsely.
  2. In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with water to make a thick syrup. Add the ground sesame seeds and ghee to the syrup and mix well. Let the filling cool.
  3. In a bowl, mix the rice flour with warm water to form a smooth dough.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them into small discs. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each disc and seal the edges to form a dumpling.
  5. Wrap the dumplings in banana leaves and steam them for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Once cooked, unwrap the banana leaves and serve the sweet yomaris hot.
