Swiss Chard Gratin
Swiss Chard Gratin is a classic Swiss dish that combines the earthy flavors of Swiss chard with creamy, cheesy goodness. This comforting gratin is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special holiday meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Swiss chard, stems removed and leaves chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Swiss chard and cook for 2-3 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Gruyère cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the cooked Swiss chard in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
