Swiss Chard Gratin

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Swiss chard, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Swiss chard and cook for 2-3 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Gruyère cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the cooked Swiss chard in a baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving.
