Swiss Cheese Fondue (Käsefondue)

Ingredients

  • 400g Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 400g Emmental cheese, grated
  • 1 garlic clove, halved
  • 1 1/2 cups dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cubed bread, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
  2. Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium heat.
  3. Toss the grated cheeses with the flour and add to the pot, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  5. Place the pot over a fondue burner and serve with cubed bread for dipping.
