Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup split chickpeas (chana dal), soaked in water for 2 hours
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Drain the soaked split chickpeas and place them in a pot with enough water to cover. Boil for 15-20 minutes or until the chickpeas are tender. Drain any excess water and let them cool.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, boiled chickpeas, onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cilantro, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture to make all the patties.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties in batches for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the Sylheti-style spiced meat patties hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
