Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground saffron threads
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large tagine or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the ground ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, black pepper, and saffron.
- Add the pitted dates and chicken broth to the pot.
