Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup peanuts, roasted and ground
  • 4 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tbsp palm sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  2. In the same pan, sauté the shallots, garlic, and red chilies until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground peanuts, tamarind paste, palm sugar, and water. Stir well and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
  4. Season the peanut sauce with salt to taste.
  5. Serve the fried tofu with the spicy peanut sauce on top.
