Tahu Goreng Sambal Manis (fried Tofu With Sweet Chili Sauce)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3-4 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Coat the tofu cubes with cornstarch.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate pan, sauté the garlic and red chilies until fragrant.
  5. Add the sweet soy sauce, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  6. Toss the fried tofu in the sweet chili sauce until well coated.
