Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef
  • 8 tofu puffs
  • 2 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp shrimp paste
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, bruised
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • 1 cup cooking oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the minced beef with shallots, garlic, red chilies, shrimp paste, tamarind paste, sugar, salt, ground coriander, and ground turmeric.
  2. Cut the tofu puffs in half and carefully remove the center to create a pocket.
  3. Stuff the tofu puffs with the seasoned minced beef mixture.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the stuffed tofu puffs until golden brown and the beef is cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the Tahu Isi Sapi Pedas hot with steamed rice.
