Ingredients
- 4 pieces of firm tofu
- 100g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 shallot, minced
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 2 tablespoons shrimp paste (terasi)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 kaffir lime leaves, thinly sliced
- 4 red chilies, thinly sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the tofu by cutting a slit in the middle to create a pocket for the filling.
- In a food processor, combine the shrimp, garlic, shallot, egg, cornstarch, salt, sugar, and white pepper. Process until smooth.
- Stuff the tofu pockets with the shrimp mixture.
- Steam the stuffed tofu for 10 minutes.
- In a pan, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the shrimp paste until fragrant.
- Add the steamed stuffed tofu to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve the Tahu Isi Terasi garnished with sliced kaffir lime leaves and red chilies.
