Tahu Sambal (spicy Tofu Sambal)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 4 tablespoons of sambal oelek
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the diced tomato and cook until softened.
  4. Add the sambal oelek, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Stir well.
  5. Add the tofu cubes and gently mix to coat them with the sambal mixture.
  6. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tofu is heated through and the flavors are well combined.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot.
