Taiwanese Pork Dumplings (水餃)
水餃 (shuǐjiǎo) are a popular Taiwanese dish consisting of juicy pork filling wrapped in a thin dough wrapper. They are typically served with a dipping sauce and are a favorite at family gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 cups finely chopped napa cabbage
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package round dumpling wrappers
- Water for sealing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, napa cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Place a small spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold the wrapper in half and press the edges together to seal, forming a half-moon shape.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and pork mixture.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the dumplings to the boiling water and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface and the filling is cooked through.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve hot with dipping sauce.
