Taiwanese Style Fried Rice (炒飯)
炒飯 (Taiwanese Style Fried Rice) is a popular dish in Taiwanese cuisine, known for its delicious flavors and simple preparation.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked rice
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 1/2 cup diced ham or cooked shrimp (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the beaten eggs and scramble until just set. Remove from the wok and set aside.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in the wok. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the mixed vegetables and diced ham or shrimp (if using) to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked rice to the wok. Use a spatula to break up any clumps and mix with the vegetables and meat.
- Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and white pepper to the wok. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined.
- Return the scrambled eggs to the wok and mix with the rice. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve the Taiwanese Style Fried Rice hot.
