Taiwanese Style Sausage Surprise (香腸)

Ingredients

  • 6 Taiwanese sausages
  • 1/2 cup cooked glutinous rice
  • 1/4 cup diced green onions
  • 1/4 cup diced water chestnuts
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 6 pieces of parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the stovetop to medium heat.
  2. Cut a slit lengthwise in each Taiwanese sausage, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the cooked glutinous rice, green onions, water chestnuts, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper.
  4. Stuff each sausage with the rice mixture.
  5. Wrap each sausage in parchment paper, twisting the ends to secure.
  6. Place the wrapped sausages on the preheated stovetop and cook for 15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  7. Remove the parchment paper and serve the sausages hot.
