Tamales De Elote (honduran Sweet Corn Tamales)
Tamales de Elote, or Honduran Sweet Corn Tamales, are a traditional dish in Honduran cuisine. These tamales are made with fresh corn and are a delicious and comforting treat.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh corn kernels
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 banana leaves, cut into 12x12 inch squares
Instructions
- In a blender, blend the fresh corn kernels, sugar, butter, and salt until smooth.
- Place 2-3 tablespoons of the corn mixture in the center of each banana leaf square.
- Wrap the banana leaves around the corn mixture to form a tamale, then tie with kitchen twine.
- Place the tamales in a large steamer pot and steam for 1 hour.
- Let the tamales cool for a few minutes before serving.
