Tamatar Ki Chutney (tangy Tomato Chutney)
Tamatar ki Chutney, also known as Tangy Tomato Chutney, is a popular condiment in Indian cuisine. It is a delicious and tangy accompaniment that pairs well with various dishes such as samosas, pakoras, or as a spread for sandwiches.
Ingredients
- 4 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 8-10 curry leaves
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
- Add chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, sugar, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the mixture thickens.
- Let the chutney cool down and then transfer it to a serving bowl.
