Ingredients

  • 4 large tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 8-10 curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  2. Add chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, sugar, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the mixture thickens.
  4. Let the chutney cool down and then transfer it to a serving bowl.
