Tambda Rassa (तांबडा रस्सा)
तांबडा रस्सा (Tambda Rassa) is a spicy and flavorful Maharashtrian curry made with mutton and a special blend of spices. It is a popular dish in the state of Maharashtra, known for its rich and aromatic taste.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1-inch ginger
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Water
Instructions
- Grind the grated coconut, garlic, ginger, dry red chilies, coriander seeds, and cumin seeds to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned.
- Add the ground paste, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Add water and pressure cook until the mutton is tender.
- Once done, adjust the consistency of the curry and simmer for a few more minutes.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or bhakri.
