Tang Cu Dou Fu (sweet And Sour Tofu)
Tang Cu Dou Fu, also known as Sweet and Sour Tofu, is a popular dish in Pakistani Chinese cuisine. It features crispy tofu cubes coated in a tangy and sweet sauce, making it a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 3/4 cup pineapple chunks
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, coat the tofu cubes with cornstarch.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the tofu until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the bell pepper, onion, pineapple chunks, ginger, and garlic until the vegetables are tender.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Pour the sauce into the pan with the vegetables.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Add the crispy tofu to the pan and gently toss to coat it with the sweet and sour sauce.
- Serve the Tang Cu Dou Fu hot with steamed rice.
