Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp jaggery
  • 2-3 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the toor dal and pressure cook with tomatoes, onion, green chilies, turmeric powder, and water for 3-4 whistles.
  2. Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and mash the dal mixture well.
  3. Add tamarind paste, jaggery, and salt. Mix well and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
