Tangy Tambuli (Yogurt-based Curry)
This tangy and creamy yogurt-based curry, known as Tambuli, is a traditional dish from Uttara Karnataka Cuisine. It's a refreshing and flavorful curry that is perfect for a hot summer day.
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 5-6 curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the yogurt, grated coconut, green chilies, and cumin seeds. Blend until smooth.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add curry leaves, turmeric powder, and asafoetida.
- Pour the blended mixture into the pan and add salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with steamed rice or roti.
