Ingredients
- 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- A few curry leaves
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, coriander leaves, salt, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes until the tomatoes are completely soft.
