Tantalizing Hyderabadi Fish Curry

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish fillets with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  4. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.
  5. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  6. Gently add the marinated fish fillets and green chilies. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until the fish is tender.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
