Tapioca Pilaf (spicy Sabudana Khichdi)
Tapioca Pilaf, also known as Spicy Sabudana Khichdi, is a popular dish from the Jharkhandi Cuisine. It is a flavorful and spicy preparation made with tapioca pearls, peanuts, and potatoes, and is often enjoyed during religious fasting days.
Ingredients
- 2 cups tapioca pearls
- 1 cup roasted peanuts
- 2 medium potatoes, diced
- 3-4 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Wash the tapioca pearls and soak them in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the diced potatoes and cook until they are slightly golden.
- Add the soaked tapioca pearls, chopped green chilies, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Add the roasted peanuts and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
