Taro Leaf Wraps
Taro Leaf Wraps are a traditional dish from Pitcairn Islands cuisine, featuring flavorful fillings wrapped in taro leaves. This dish is perfect for a light and healthy meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 8 large taro leaves
- 1 cup cooked quinoa
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Blanch the taro leaves in boiling water for 2 minutes. Remove and pat dry.
- In a bowl, mix the quinoa, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, feta cheese, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the quinoa mixture onto each taro leaf. Wrap the leaf around the filling, folding the sides in as you go.
- Secure the wraps with toothpicks if needed.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly oil the surface.
- Carefully place the wraps in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the taro leaves are tender and slightly crispy.
- Remove from the pan and serve warm.
