Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons orange blossom water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the almond flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat in the eggs, melted butter, and almond extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. While the cake is baking, prepare the orange blossom syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the orange blossom water. Let it cool slightly.
  8. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Using a toothpick or skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cake. Pour the orange blossom syrup over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  10. Serve the almond cake with a drizzle of the remaining syrup and enjoy!
