Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4-5 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
- In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices in the prepared tart crust.
- Brush the edges of the crust with the beaten egg to create a golden finish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
