Ingredients

  • 4-5 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
  4. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Arrange the apple slices in the prepared tart crust.
  5. Brush the edges of the crust with the beaten egg to create a golden finish.
