Tarte Aux Noix: Walnut Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse the flour, cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, and salt until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, covering the bottom and sides. Chill the crust for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. In a bowl, mix together the chopped walnuts, corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the walnut mixture into the chilled tart crust.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  7. Allow the tart to cool before slicing and serving.
