Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sugar, and cook until the onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Press the pie crust into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Spoon the caramelized onions onto the pre-baked crust. Pour the egg mixture over the onions.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
