Tasty Fish Kuzhambu
Tasty Fish Kuzhambu is a traditional Tamil Nadu fish curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a perfect combination of tangy and spicy flavors, making it a favorite among seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g fish (preferably kingfish or mackerel)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup tamarind extract
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and add fenugreek seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and garlic. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Pour tamarind extract and bring it to a boil. Add the marinated fish and curry leaves. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Once the fish is cooked, add coconut milk and simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
