Tasty Fish Kuzhambu is a traditional Tamil Nadu fish curry that is rich in flavor and spices. This dish is a perfect combination of tangy and spicy flavors, making it a favorite among seafood lovers.

Tasty Fish Kuzhambu

Ingredients

  • 500g fish (preferably kingfish or mackerel)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup tamarind extract
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add fenugreek seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and garlic. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  4. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Pour tamarind extract and bring it to a boil. Add the marinated fish and curry leaves. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Once the fish is cooked, add coconut milk and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
