Tasty Pongal Fusion

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup split yellow moong dal
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 10-12 cashew nuts
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and moong dal together and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Add the rice and moong dal to the boiling water and cook until soft and mushy.
  4. In a separate pan, heat ghee and add cumin seeds, black pepper, ginger, and cashew nuts. Sauté until the cashews are golden brown.
  5. Add the sautéed mixture to the cooked rice and dal. Mix well and add salt to taste.
  6. Simmer for a few minutes until the flavors are well combined.
