Tawau Tofu Soup

Ingredients

  • 500g firm tofu, cubed
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and red chili. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the cubed tofu to the pot and pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Simmer for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. Once the soup is ready, ladle it into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions.
