Tawau Tofu Soup
Tawau Tofu Soup is a traditional Sabahan dish that is known for its comforting and flavorful broth. This soup is perfect for a chilly evening or when you're craving a light and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 500g firm tofu, cubed
- 1 liter vegetable broth
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red chili, sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and red chili. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add the cubed tofu to the pot and pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the soy sauce and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Once the soup is ready, ladle it into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions.
