Telera is a traditional Mexican bread that is perfect for making tortas, a type of sandwich. This recipe will guide you through making your own telera at home!
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and salt together.
- Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round roll.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the telera rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool before slicing and using for tortas.
