Ingredients
- 300g tempeh, sliced into thin rectangles
- 1 cup cooking oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, sliced
- 3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tempeh slices until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, heat a little oil and sauté the garlic and red chilies until fragrant.
- Add the sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, tamarind paste, sugar, and water. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Season with salt to taste, then add the fried tempeh to the sauce. Toss to coat the tempeh evenly.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with some sliced red chilies for an extra kick.
